# How we work

We don’t start with a preferred technology. We start with the business, the problem, the constraints, the people, the processes, the existing systems, the data, the infrastructure, the risks and the goals. Then we choose the technology.

## Four phases, every project

### 01 · Understand

How the business works, where it loses time, what it needs.

- **Discover:** Talk to the people who do the work; look at the tools, files and numbers they use, and research what is unfamiliar.
- **Map:** Map how the work actually flows: who does what, what triggers what, where time, money and information are lost.

### 02 · Design

The system around the real workflow. You see it before it’s built.

- **Define:** Define what the system must do and the rules it must follow: approvals, limits, deadlines, and what must never happen.
- **Architect:** Design the structure first: data, workflows, systems and infrastructure, before any code.

### 03 · Build

Software, automation, AI, integrations, infrastructure. A first working version, then tested and improved with the team.

- **Build:** Build the software, automation and AI the design calls for: a first working version, then tested and improved with the team.
- **Integrate:** Connect it to the tools and data already in place, so information is entered once.
- **Secure:** Access, permissions, backups and logging are part of the build, not added later.
- **Test:** Test with real work and real data before anyone depends on it.

### 04 · Improve

Run it, measure it, fix what's off, add the next piece.

- **Launch:** Put it into daily use with the team, one part at a time.
- **Improve:** Watch it in real use, measure, fix what is off, and add the next piece.

Improve feeds the next round of understanding.
